1st Test of Vestax VCI-300 + Serato Itch

Here’s a quick video of how the VCI-300 reacts to cuts.. I made this video before i figured out you can adjust the USB Buffer Latency, but it still managed to replicate most of my cuts faithfully on the default setting..

Pros:
scratching on the platter feels like a CDJ-1000 when the USB buffer is lowest
faders are typical vestax feel
easy to setup / figure out
full control of Serato Itch screen with the on-board controls
Serato Itch Software saw my Scratch Live crates / iTunes Library
adjustments for platter tension / touch sensitivity / xfader curves / latency and braking
bus powered (only usb port required)
can be used as a stand-alone USB sound card

Cons:
No Hamster switch.
Cramped design - which will take time to get used to.

Overall this is a awesome product. I wont be giving up my techs any time soon and it definitely wont roll to any club gigs, but its perfect for house parties and quick scratches on songs.. and best of all it fits in a backpack along with my laptop.

ok so as i was researching the vestax vci-300, this one pops up from numark. pretty much the same deal EXCEPT the platters are motorized! (aka they spin like good ol fashion turntables). Im diggin the fader knobs on this one too. I can vouch for the quality of both vestax and numark products, but just based on the platter, this one might have to be one to get.

On another note, there has been rumors floating around the interweb that the original Technics 1200SL will be discontinued. Products like Serato have pretty much sealed the deal.. If the rumors are true, please pour a little liquor out for the OG wheel of steel.
